Chip tha Ripper-- Gift Raps

Listening to Gift Raps, you may wonder, what exactly is Chip good at? Well, he does not impress in one category, but put it all together, and it is good music. Chip’s flow is smooth and his beat selection is great on this tape. The overall theme of the collection is being fresh, smoking weed, and bagging dimes. Nothing complicated, but he does it so well. Gift Raps will be great for the entire Spring and Summer seasons, as it has the warm weather vibe, cruising in the whip. The one thing holding the tape back is the lack of features. Chip is known for stealing the show on other people’s songs, but he does not have any features here. It can be stale listening to just him for an entire tape. He has connections to some of the most talented rappers in the game ( Kid Cudi, Curren$y, Big Sean) yet he could not grab any of them. The production is top notch, and the lyrics are average, but the tape is still dope.

Gift Raps is not Chip's best work (personal fav is still The Cleveland Show) but it was still pretty good. Solid productions, lyrics pretty average, flow is point (but his flow stay on point). Still worth checking out.
